Bring it on!

Oh yes 2011, bring it ON!!!!! You are shaping up to be one heck of a year!

The fact is that we have had a particularly difficult last couple of years, the man had to have an emergency heart stent to save his life, he also got Atrial Fibrilation, then we found out his Glaucoma had deteriorated to the point of being legally blind. Not that we didnt notice the changes of course, the lack of independence, all the little things that crop up on a daily basis.

All through that time we had humour and love to keep us going, we managed to write and record an album called 'Empty Spaces' then took the huge step of moving to Nashville. I live with a very private but funny man, that is how he survives not being able to see and he lives with a woman who adores him and who also has a keen sense of humour, albeit British!

So, here we are in 2011 and our year is about to take off, we took a trip to Phoenix to join the King of Nightmares onstage for his charity show in December and now we look forward to a trip to New York for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
I have no idea what I am going to wear to The Waldorf Astoria but I will deffinately be wearing the black Spanx I bought in Hallmark's the other week. (re: earlier blog)

I cannot wait to share some road stories with you as the year unfolds.
I will endevour to make it a 'warts and all' experience....... do Americans know that expression I wonder?  Well, in this instance it means I will be as honest as I can be without fear of legal action!!!

2011 here we come! K (:

'Empty Spaces' CD

It took a year to record and a year to release.

My gorgeous husband Steve, produced, arranged, engineered and played every instrument!
It was because of his nagging (gently) that I wrote the first song for the project called 'Whatever' and then it kind of took on a life of it's own.

He said "Write about things that mean something to you and sing them in a way that makes you feel comfortable" "JUST BE YOU!" ..... he didnt shout that but you get my drift.

So, finally it is available to buy on CDbaby.com  yeah!! yeah!!!
And iTunes  yeah!! yeah!!

Here is the full list...........

Dignity

How I envy cats, they have this ability to look elegant and dignified no matter what they do. If they fall from a great height they manage to turn into a good landing position then stroll away looking all nonchalant.

Squeaky is an expert at dignity, she sits in her litter tray, tabby ass on the inside but two front paws planted firmly on the ground outside then she looks out at the world as if nothing is going on at all!

Monday

Cant tell you what a busy and exhausting day it's been! Firstly we had to close a load of bank accounts in AZ over the phone. Keeping in mind that my husband is almost blind so all that sort of thing is down to me, it was like getting in and out of Buckingham Palace without a pass!
I got parcels ready to be posted, wrote emails, talked to my son on Facebook (that was a good bit).

Steve had to be at the studio so I had a chance to do all the other things that needed doing, bank (a local one), Office Depot to organise photographs to be printed up, then half an hour browsing around Hallmark for no particular reason and who would believe it, they were selling Spanx's!!! For those in the dark on Spanx, they are a form of underwear that hold in all the bits you don't want falling out, needless to say I had to buy a pair.

On to the important/boring task; food shopping; then ordered a cab and stood waiting for an hour! A Yellow cab turns up, I stand and wave, he winds his window down and says, "Dr Happerway"....No! Karen! It's snowing by now by the way.
"Oh, I need Dr Happerway", so I carry on waiting for a further 5 minutes, then my phone goes "Dr Happerway?" NO, its Karen! I am stood two feet from the cab and he is calling on my cell and renaming me.
Turns out it was my cab but I got totally worn out being a Dr for 10 minutes.

That was my Monday, so far. K

Squeaky

Yesterday was all go, got the new cd up all over the place, talked to Retro Kimmer who runs a fab blog. She posted the most fantastic piece about me and Steve and when I find out how to do it, I will post her link on here.

Squeaky cat went missing for 26 hours after a visit to the vet, and he was so nice to her! The vet that is!
She came home and resumed her normal position on the mans lap, her head burried in his hand.

This morning she decided to bring us a gift, maybe she felt bad for all the worry she caused yesterday. Anyway, in she comes with a dead chipmunk, drops it in the hallway then proceeds to fling it all over the place. I thought it was a live rat and screamed. But no, the little creature was gone to chipmunk heaven.
Steve picked it up and placed it outside again, Squeaky got all confused and spent 5 minutes going around in circles in the hall, "where the hell did that chipmunk go"????
